What is your role at NESC?
In his role as Nuclear Engineering Manager for NESC, Dan is responsible for the resource planning, training, supervision, welfare, and professional development of the Nuclear Engineering Department. His responsibilities also include the management of external engineering projects, ensuring delivery to customer expectations in terms of time, quality, and cost.
In addition, Dan is passionate about recruiting and developing talented personnel for the NESC Engineering Department, supporting the continued growth of the company, and ensuring the organisation is well positioned to meet future commitments and challenges.
What is your career history?
Prior to joining NESC, Dan accumulated more than 29 years of experience operating and supervising Pressurised Water Reactors aboard Nuclear Submarines. As a Warrant Officer, he was responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of reactor plant systems, propulsion, electrical generation, and wider submarine engineering systems, while also acting as the Engineering Department Personnel Coordinator.
Since leaving the Submarine Service, Dan has continued to support the defence nuclear sector through his role within In-Water Engineering as Technical Lead for Future Submarines, providing technical oversight, guidance, and engineering support to the wider team.
