On the 17th May, Alfie raced at the Bridgestone British Masters. Alfie has never raced at this national championship before so didn’t put any pressure on himself as he wanted to enjoy the experience, although he would have been happy to come away with a top 10 with it being a very fast class British championship.
Race 1 – Alfie crashed on the first corner after a collision with another rider however managed to pick himself up and push through to 8th from dead last.
Race 2 – He had a good start for race 2! He started in 5th place and managed to make his way to the front and bring home the win. Alfie said that he was extremely pleased with this result as it was his first ever national win.
Race 3 – For race 3 Alfie had another good start. He maintained 4th place and went to make a pass for 3rd but unfortunately crashed and dropped back to 7th. He didn’t give up though, and pulled his way back to 4th on the last lap achieving the fastest lap of the race!
Race 4 – A third good start for race 4 meant Alfie maintaining 3rd place for the majority of the race, however manoeuvred his way to 2nd place with 2 laps to go and then managed to gain his way into 1st place on the last lap with 2 corners to go. This meant that Alfie managed to achieve another 1st place finish ensuring a 1st place finish overall for the championship.
Alfie has thoroughly enjoyed this weekend, even saying it’s the best he has had in a long time! He has proven to himself and everyone else of what he is capable of, now he just has to keep up the momentum for the next few racing weekends.
Well done, Alfie!
