Paul Richardson – Sailing

28/10/2020

Paul and Katy sail their Vancouver 27 sailing yacht Andiamo II locally from the river Yealm. They enjoy cruising and racing, spending many weekends on their Yealm mooring. Paul added:

“Andiamo is definitely not a racing yacht but we are enjoying flying the new NESC spinnaker in gentle to moderate breezes which has greatly improved Andiamo’s downwind race and downwind cruising speed.”

Paul and Katy sail with the RYA affiliated Yealm Yacht Club. Paul acts as Yacht Secretary organising the yacht racing calendar to cater for a wide sailing audience – those keen to commit to a weekly Sunday race in the Autumn Series and those who prefer specific calendar events. Paul also said:

“We have day races both locally and further afield including our annual cross channel event to Trebeurden in Brittany, passage races along the Devon & Cornish coast.

“In May we have the 3 Creeks Race (Dartmouth, Salcombe and Yealm) which incorporates a little adventure and coastal running into the mix too.”

NESC wishes Paul and Katy all the best with their racing and cruising adventures. We hope they are getting good use out of the spinnaker!
