Nuclear Safety

Nuclear Safety is defined by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as “The achievement of proper operating conditions, prevention of accidents or mitigation of accident consequences, resulting in protection of workers, the public and the environment from undue radiation hazards”.

At NESC, we have the highly skilled and technically experienced personnel capable of undertaking the investigation and assessment of nuclear operations to ascertain potential hazards, the associated consequences and their representative risk.

Identifying the associated improvement measures and delivering arguments and justifications is an equally strong skill set of NESC, such that we provide our clients with a complete safety case solution.

The process of deriving emergency arrangements is strongly linked to safety case production and ideally should not be undertaken in isolation to the application.  Although capable of undertaking safety case activities and processes in isolation where necessary, NESC is experienced in managing emergency arrangements as part of the full safety case solution.

Security in relation to nuclear operations and sites is of ever-increasing importance, whether it be related to physical or cyber initiated threats.  NESC safety capabilities include consideration of security, including in relation to cyber threats on industrial control and process systems
