July 2023

‘A week after returning from japan, on the 9th July I competed in Estonia, being my first European Open at -90kg and since injury. These events are where you can start to collect World ranking points.

Unfortunately I didn’t perform well on the day, and I came away with one win and one loss, with the loss being against someone I beat earlier in the year. That being said, I did well to win my first fight against a Polish opponent, where I won in Newaza (groundwork) by Ippon. This has put me on the world rankings in -90kg, where I can now begin to climb.

The plan now is to fine tune what I have learnt from japan, hopefully with some European training camps so I can ensure it works against the European style of judo, and prepare to compete again at another European open in 2 months time.’
